Sara Alves (b. 2000, Lisbon) lives and works between Gdynia and Lisbon.

She holds a BA in Painting and an MA in Museology and Museography from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. Sara’s artistic work is primarily situated within figurative art and neo-surrealism. Her practice is rooted in painting and drawing, occasionally expanding into other media.

Since 2020, she has mainly developed a neo-surrealist project-based approach, oneiric and focused on social critique. She addresses themes related to the psychological, ontological and social complexity of human beings, whether in a more intimate way or through a collective perspective, and usually starting from a literary context.

In parallel, Sara also develops a landscape project (plein air and in studio) with an emphasis on the use of color and underpainting to explore themes of inhabiting a place and wandering through landscapes as a form of embodied travel.
